Whats the funniest thing you've ever seen happen in the KH?
by shell69 ini remember being a kid and we didnt have the fancy fabric seats, they were plastic stackable chairs all set out in the usual lines.. an elderly bro, rather rotund, farted, the noise so loud and thundering against the plastic seat!
or the time when i must have been about 7, my dad brought his bible study family to their first ever meeting, i had to sit on mums knee.
i recall giving the daughter of the new family a very vigorous v sign during the meeting.

"Firm and determined, in this time of the end...."
This is the song credited to a German JW in a concentration camp, entitled in English, "Forward You Witnesses". In fact, it is referenced in the Holocaust museum in Washington DC.

I'm 18 and I want my baptism undone.
by LtCmd.Lore ini was recently informed that i have the legal right to have my baptism nullified.
but apparently there is a time limit on it.
i have to do this before i turn 19. if i succeed, they will announce at a meeting that i was never a jehovahs witness, and i will not be disfellowshiped or disassociated.. i should also point out that i was baptised at age 9.

Happy Independance Day
by POs Son init's the fourth of july around the world, but it means so much more to americans, as our independence from oppressive rule gives us the freedoms, liberties and rights that man has longed for for centuries.
take a moment, please, to celebrate the freedom of religion that allows jw's to practice their faith with freedom, and allows us to speak freely about what displeases us about their freedom!
all the best.

Using School Assignments to Give a Witness
by Mysterious inanyone remember all the examples of youths being encouraged to work something about the jws into school assignments on abortion, evolution, volunteer work etc?
i remember cheekily ending an essay with "remember the theory of evolution is just that, a theory" in about 8th grade but that was about it.
i did just get a fantastic a grade mark on my philosophy paper on shoudl parents have the right to refuse life saving medical treatment for infants and children too young to decide for themselves.

I remember a related experience:
We had to clip out a "current event" and a "science event" each week in grade school, and add our summary. 90% of my "current and science events" came out of the WT and Awake. My teachers must have just shaken their heads.

Packing ?
by rwagoner injust curious if any other xjw's carry concealed weapons on a regular basis ?
because of my work (job that pays the bills) and my business (will pay the bills somday) i got into the habit shortly after leaving the dubs.
now i am a solid supporter of a law abiding, qualified citizen's right to legally carry.

I carry often, usually a .32 or a .380. I choose to carry because I may have only one chance to protect my family in case of an attack. Mind you, I am not a gun-toting wacko! To obtain a permit in my state, one must complete basic firearms safety training, pass a criminal, mental health and local background check, and keep out of all legal trouble. A pistol permit around here is almost like a "good guy" ID card. It guarantees that the person has not been hospitalized for mental health issues, has no felony convictions, no major misdemeanor convictions, no domestic violence issues, and meets the minimum acceptable criteria set by a local police chief.
My mother, a JW, feels that she would rather die at the hands of a rapist/burglar/criminal than have blood on her hands. That is fine, but I have two little girls, and I will gladly take a criminal life to protect their innocence.
No, again, I am not a nut. I do not claim that my handgun will protect the nation from the Democrats. I do not believe that I am a cop. I wear a seat belt in the car, I have smoke detectors in my house, and a first aid kit. I carry a gun to help in a criminal attack just as I use other tools to manage a car crash, fire or injury.

Religious organizations can accredit their own programs, but it does not mean acceptance from other schools or employers. Keep in mind that this is the organization that claims that reading the Awake! magazine is the equivalent of a college education.
